We have a truly special Scotch and Irish whiskey tasting in the company of world renowned critic and Keeper of the Quaich Charles MacLean and the Scottish Malt Whisky Society (SMWS), lined up for October. As most of you are aware, 2019 is the tenth anniversary of our society and we wanted to do something really special for our members both in Dingle and Dublin. We are hoping to have up to 20 members travel to the town to see just what a great job we are doing here in Kerry.

We were privileged to have Charles come to Dublin from Scotland in 2016 and he produced one of the best tastings that the society has ever hosted and indeed opened members eyes to what the Scotch Malt Whiskey Society is really about.

As a result of this, we have had our very own SMWS tastings in Dingle but they will pale into insignificance in comparison to what Charles will offer on the night.

For those of you unfamiliar with our distant Scottish cousins, the SMWS was founded in the late 1970s by Phillip “Pip” Hills and a small group of like-minded spirits in an even smaller kitchen with a large bottle of Glenfarclas drawn straight from the cask. Today, their headquarters in Leith is home to a reservoir of staggering expressions from across not just Scotland’sbut the world's whiskey-scape and their sleek, discreet, dark green bottles have become liquid icons of Scotland’s finest fluids. On the evening, we will be tasting MacLean’s hand selected range from those same members-only bottlings as he walks us through the nooks and crannies of his national nectar with a depth and insight afforded by a lifetime in the heart of world whisky criticism.

The author of numerous classics such as Whiskypedia and Whisky: A Liquid History, MacLean is a living legend on the Scottish single malt stage and it is our absolute pleasure to invite him and his society to Dingle for what we’re very confident will be a night to remember and the beginning of an Auld Acquaintance n'er forgot in years to come.

Amongst the selection, there will be a very rare & unique SMWS Irish whiskey as well as four of our own society bottlings on offer. Our brand new Kilbeggan society bottling will make its first public appearance on the night and we are interested in any feedback that you may have.

We can absolutely guarantee you that this will be an evening not to be missed.
