The Dingle chapter of the Irish Whiskey Society wish to convey a Happy New Year to all of our members and to also thank everyone for making 2017 such a great success. We will have to work even harder in 2018 in order to build on this success and attract new members but your committee can promise you that we will strive to improve on the already terrific tastings which we hosted last year.

For our first tasting of 2018 we will be travelling out of town for the first time to Inch. We are grateful to local member Con Collins for organising and presenting this tasting to you and hopefully this will encourage other members to do something similar during the year. A free bus will take participants on the night to meet their colleagues at famous “ FOLEY’S BAR” at Inch beach, only 30 minutes from Dingle. Pickup will be at seven o’ clock sharp at the bus stop at the back of Supervalu and will leave Foley’s at eleven for the return journey. It will be a sixteen seater bus, so book early to ensure a seat is available.

This intimate setting will set up a wonderful night of tastings which have been carefully selected to pair with a fabulous assortment of chocolates, which include a locally made Whiskey Truffle from Milseoige in Dingle. Caroline O'Connor (milseoige@gmail.com) at Milseoige will not divulge the recipe, only to say that the Truffle has a mix of whiskeys including our local Dingle whiskey.

Other chocolates on the night have been graciously donated to us by Manna Organic Store in Tralee. They stock a large range of organic chocolates and the owner Claire O’ Connor has also spent time with three members of the Society sipping many whiskeys and nibbling a large quantity of chocolate in an effort to pair both. We are told that this was a very difficult chore indeed. Some excellent pot still whiskeys, a single malt and a blended whiskey will be sampled on the night.

This tasting will be the first time whereby we will be moving our tasting day to the first Friday of each month going forward. Our new society president John Shirey will also be in attendance on the night.

N.B. For those Dingle members who wish to avail of the free bus to Inch on the night, please inform the secretary at dinglewhiskeysociety@gmail.com
